Evaluation and Referral

There are two types of glaucoma. If you have open-angle glaucoma, fluid in your eyes drains slowly due to drainage issues. This increases pressure in the eyes, damaging the optic nerve as pressure builds. In patients with angle-closure glaucoma, the fluid does not drain properly. The eye pressure rises significantly, causing increased optic nerve damage. In many cases, people who experience angle-closure glaucoma experience permanent vision loss. Post-Operative Care

Once your surgery is scheduled, we will schedule follow-up appointments for you in our Raytown, Raymore and Blue Springs office. Typically, you will begin these follow-ups the day after the surgery and continue at prearranged times over the following six months. After 1 year, a full exam is recommended to determine the long-term results of your procedure.
